Letter to the Editor: Count on Tedra Cobb to protect your healthcare
If you haven’t already noticed it, one of two things is about to happen: your cost of health care insurance is about to increase, and/or your benefits are going away. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, 24 million Americans including 64,000 in our district would have lost their health care if the bill to abolish the Affordable Health Care Act (ACA) had passed. Thanks to Sen. John McCain for his courage in not allowing that to happen.
However, the Republican majority has not ceased their efforts to take away your health care, cutting it piece by piece. You can send thanks to Rep. Elise Stefanik, who voted over and over again to gut the ACA, and who receives major financial support from the health care industry. Health insurance isn’t a problem for her. She is covered by the generous congressional health insurance program.
Stefanik has never lived in the district, but Tedra Cobb on the other hand actually lives in the North Country and understands that health care is a huge issue for most of us. For 30 years, Tedra has lived and served her community in St. Lawrence County. She’s been a volunteer firefighter, served on the county Legislature and founded a health service organization. She built her business here and knows and cares about the people in her district. She raised her family here. As a member of Congress, you can count on Tedra to vote to protect you, the ACA, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security.
