LETTER: Democrat Tedra Cobb cares about people
Tedra Cobb is one of us, but not just one of us — she represents what is the best in us.
On June 26 there will be a Democratic Primary for the NY-21 Congressional District. This election is not about defeating Elise Stefanik. This election is about choosing the best person to represent us, someone who is one of us, someone who understands us, someone who will live with the repercussions of her decisions in Congress.
Tedra Cobb is one of us, but not just one of us — she represents what is the best in us. She has lived and raised a family here among us, worked in HIV/AIDS education when the fear of AIDS gripped our nation. She started a successful not-for-profit health care agency, started her own successful consulting company, lived with her husband and young family off the grid, helped as a Spanish translator in prisons and been a member of her local volunteer fire company. She has lived a life dedicated to social and economic justice, environmental awareness, and fought for ethics in government. She is the only Democrat in this race to have been elected to public office; county legislature in St. Lawrence County — twice.
Perhaps the most important thing is that Tedra really cares about the people of northern New York. This isn’t a matter of philosophical banter or a battle of hypothetical ideas for her. It’s about how the actions taken by a representative have real effect in people’s lives. It’s about answering constituents’ questions, doing constituent service, and being answerable in person to those constituents. Please vote for Tedra Cobb.
Mike Parwana, Queensbury
