Letter: Cobb willing to meet residents face to face

There is no substitute for personal interaction, and Tedra has met with thousands of voters in her campaign travels. A devoted army of volunteers supports her as she visits communities from Saratoga to Massena to Watertown and Alexandria Bay. Since she began her congressional campaign, Tedra Cobb has visited more communities, met with more constituents and participated more fully in the events of our district than our elected representative seems to have done during her entire term.

As the political situation in Washington unfolds in an ever-downward spiral, it is increasingly obvious that we need a change in management. We must elect representatives who will uphold our Constitution and its democratic ideals. The Democratic primary is rapidly approaching. And when I head to the polls on June 26, I will vote for Tedra Cobb for Congress.

Tedra Cobb is an example of all that is best about the 21st Congressional District. Tedra earned her degree from SUNY Potsdam, made her home and raised her family here in Northern New York. Tedra’s professional career has been spent in Northern New York, working on behalf of its residents. With her experiences in the health care field and county politics, Tedra Cobb will be a true representative of the residents of the 21st Congressional District. During the time I have known Tedra, I have witnessed firsthand her commitment to her home district. Her passion for Northern New York and its residents is obvious in the way in which she has lived her life and conducted her business — whether as a St. Lawrence County legislator or in her private life.

If elected, Tedra has pledged to hold in-person town hall meetings in each county of the district every year of her term. Elise Stefanik frequently demonstrates her lack of willingness to meet face to face with her constituents and often phones it in. A telephone town hall bears little resemblance to a face-to-face conversation with concerned residents in a local community room.

Tedra Cobb is an excellent listener and unafraid to engage in a respectful and civil conversation with someone who holds opposing views. She strives to seek common ground and to understand the views her neighbors hold. Intelligent, moral, tireless, charismatic and committed, Tedra Cobb has true knowledge of and a deep commitment to the residents she hopes to represent in the People’s House.

Vote for Tedra Cobb on June 26.
