Letter: Change in leadership

Tedra will act as a voice for all of us in the North Country, not as partisan politician, but as a principled and strong leader for the issues we care about: improved educational opportunities from preschool through college, portable and affordable health care for all, livable wages and economic opportunities and a healthy environment.

TO THE EDITOR: At the recent G-7 economic summit in Quebec, President Trump disrupted long-standing international trade relationships with our European and Asian allies and insulted Canada’s Prime Minister Trudeau.

Canada is our closest neighbor, strongest ally and vitally important to the North Country economy.

Elise Stefanik, representative for the 21st Congressional District, has done nothing to admonish our president and has followed his lead on trade and other issues: eroding health care, education and the environment.

It’s time for a change in leadership in our district, also necessary to limit this president from further tarnishing our international reputation and hurting our economy, which is intertwined with Quebec and Ontario.

June 26 is the Democratic Party primary vote, and there are still five candidates in the race. All of them are good people and have good qualities, but one of them, Tedra Cobb, stands out as the most qualified, experienced and capable of winning the primary election and going on to beat Ms. Stefanik in November.

Tedra will act as a voice for all of us in the North Country, not as partisan politician, but as a principled and strong leader for the issues we care about: improved educational opportunities from preschool through college, portable and affordable health care for all, livable wages and economic opportunities and a healthy environment.

During her campaign, Tedra has tirelessly traveled across the entire 21st Congressional District, listening and learning about our issues and building a team of over 700 volunteers who have devoted their time and energy to advancing her message.

If you are a Democrat, please vote on June 26. This Democratic primary and the November election may be the most important vote that you make for the future of our congressional district and our country.
