Letter: The right values
“Tedra has the values we care about: honesty, respect, transparency, accountability, compassion and understanding.
She understands the issues of North Country residents who have felt left behind: the need for better health-care services, educational opportunities, good wages and a healthy environment.”

TO THE EDITOR: The 2018 mid-term elections will be critical for the future of our American democracy.
Under President Trump, our political discourse has eroded due to his misguided positions and policy tweets, abetted by a hyper-partisan U.S. Congress more interested in rewarding the wealthiest through huge tax cuts widening income inequality, eliminating basic health care and social protections for our most vulnerable and dismantling the environmental regulations that ensure clean air and water.
New York State 21st Congressional District Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik has voted for President Trump’s agenda 88.7 percent of the time (Source: FiveThirtyEight report.)
Make no mistake; Ms. Stefanik is working for Trump’s agenda and her own political future in D.C., not to address the needs of our North Country residents.
June 26, is the Democratic Party primary vote, and I urge all eligible North Country voters to select Tedra Cobb as the best-qualified candidate.
Tedra has the values we care about: honesty, respect, transparency, accountability, compassion and understanding.
She understands the issues of North Country residents who have felt left behind: the need for better health-care services, educational opportunities, good wages and a healthy environment.
She is the only Democratic candidate who has held elective office and knows how to compromise for effective governance results.
She will work for the North Country while Stefanik will continue to work for Washington interests and Trump’s agenda.
Among the many talented candidates running for the Democratic nomination, Tedra has mounted the best campaign and strategy for winning.
With over 700 volunteers in every county of the 21st District, she has the ground game to win in June.
From then on, she will need the support of every other candidate to bring all Democrats, Independents and Republicans who are tired of Trump on board to win the election.
