Letter: Cobb Supports Health Care For All

I support Tedra Cobb for the 21st Congressional District because she supports health care for all. I’m overwhelmed by the issues I care about. Climate change, immigration and public lands all matter deeply to our nation and to our future. But, if we can’t get health care for all our citizens right, we’ll never have a chance on these other issues.

I haven’t gotten involved in the fall congressional elections. You know the drill. Too busy, aging parents, busy job, you name it; until last week. My brother called with tragic news for our family and a call to action. My 38-year-old niece, a new mother, was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. My brother is terrified. She is insured today, but what will treatment cost and what if the Affordable Care Act goes away? He has another daughter with multiple sclerosis, what if she can’t get insurance because of a pre-existing condition? When he called he also asked who I was supporting in the mid-term elections and encouraged me to get involved.

Please get involved in your local campaign and go out to vote for candidates who support health care for all. Who knows, it might be your family member or your doctor who will call with bad news tomorrow, and we as a nation need to be able to stand behind you.
