Letter: Cobb not afraid to answer tough questions

“She is everywhere, in communities covering the whole 21st Congressional District, building relationships with her constituents and answering all questions (not for just a few invited people or only specific topics). She doesn’t shy away from being confronted with questions like, “How do we know you won’t change when you arrive in Washington as others before you?””

A recent article in this newspaper compared donations to Democratic candidates the 21st Congressional District to donations to U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik ( “Stefanik far outpaces Democrats in PAC donations,” May 18). Stefanik campaign spokesman Leonardo Alcivar said, “The Democratic candidates’ embarrassing fundraising numbers speak for themselves”; I found this statement sarcastic and insulting. I am going to take the high road and encourage Mr. Alcivar to ponder some positive attributes of one of those candidates, Tedra Cobb.

She is everywhere, in communities covering the whole 21st Congressional District, building relationships with her constituents and answering all questions (not for just a few invited people or only specific topics). She doesn’t shy away from being confronted with questions like, “How do we know you won’t change when you arrive in Washington as others before you?”

Tedra doesn’t accept PAC money; she will serve her constituents. She is accessible; you will even see her in several parade lines. Without even requesting, I receive weekly emails from Tedra (not her spokesperson). Some of the issues include big money in politics, health care, tax cuts, SNAP, environment, farm bill, sexual assault and intolerance/discrimination.

If you have not met Tedra Cobb, it would be worth your time to see and hear a candidate I firmly believe will respect and represent the 21st Congressional District. She will have our interests, will listen to us and be accountable for reporting back to us.

Voting is a privilege, and I am taking my vote to the booth for Tedra Cobb. How about you?
