Challengers call on Stefanik to ‘speak out’ on Mueller

After the Friday night firing of FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and President Donald Trump’s heightened criticism of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, most NY-21 Democratic congressional candidates are concerned about Rep. Elise Stefanik’s silence this week regarding Mueller.
“She (Stefanik, R-Willsboro) is failing to speak up. She is one of the few charged to use her position to protect our democracy,” said NY-21 Democratic congressional candidate Tedra Cobb, Canton, referring to Stefanik’s position on the House Intelligence Committee. “It is her duty to protect the investigation and say, ‘protect the special counsel.’”
Cobb said that even Senate Republicans think that Mueller is at risk, pointing to the Special Counsel Independence Protection Act, sponsored by South Carolina Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
