Candidate calls on Stefanik to support Gillibrand

Tedra Cobb, a Democratic candidate hoping to unseat U.S. Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-Willsboro, in 2018, asked the congresswoman on Tuesday to denounce the president’s demeaning tweets against U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-NY, earlier this week.

“As you must know by now, President Trump used Twitter to demean your colleague, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, with degrading vulgarity that he has never used to describe men,” Cobb wrote in a letter and a social media post to Stefanik. “As a congresswoman, you have the responsibility to hold all elected officials to the highest standard of respect and civility. This is the time to speak out and to stand up for women. Senator Gillibrand’s constituents, and your constituents, expect it.”
