Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
- Identify the need for daily performance management and the positive long-term benefit for individuals, supervisors and the organization
- Describe the barriers to successfully giving or receiving feedback and formulate a plan to overcome those barriers
- Prepare for a feedback situation through following the steps of giving and receiving feedback in a professional way
- Practice techniques for dealing with difficult staff in order to turn the performance problem into a performance success
- Assess individual communication styles and identify how these create barriers and opportunities for effective communication and positive performance in the worksite
- Recognize three techniques to get people to open up: supportive communication, active listening and non-verbal communication
Outcomes:
Skills learned include: implementing daily performance management, active listening, nonverbal and verbal communication, communicating productively, giving and receiving feedback, coaching, and motivational techniques.

Through personal assessment and analysis, lecture, video, practice, and discussion, participants will learn how to manage daily performance and give and receive feedback. They will also learn how to supervise and motivate staff through effective communication techniques.
